The bioefficacy of three species of entomopathogenic fungi viz., Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch.) Sorokin, Beauveria brongniartii (Sacc.) and Beauveria bassiana (Balsana) Vuillrmin, against white grub, Leucopholis lepidophora (Blanchard) infesting sugarcane crop was studied under laboratory conditions. In this bioassay Metarhizium anisopliae fungus caused higher rate of grub mortality at an overall concentration range of 4×105 to 2×106 conidia ml-1 as compared to Beauveria brongniartii and Beauveria bassiana The treatments with Metarhizium anisopliae fungus was found to be most effective and recorded 34.48-58.62 per cent grub mortality on 15 DAT at different conidial concentrations. The fungi Beauveria brongniartii recorded 31.03-55.18 per cent grub mortality, while as in case of fungi Beauveria bassiana 24.14-51.72 per cent grub mortality was observed on 15 DAT at different conidial concentrations. The estimated LC50 values for M. anisopliae, B. brongniartii and B. bassiana towards third instar grubs of Leucopholis lepidophora Blanch. Were 9.05×105,10.44×105 and 11.78×105 conidia ml-1, respectively. Keywords

A field experiment comprised of seven insecticides was conducted at farmers field in endemic area of pest in Kolhapur district particularly area nearby riverbank during 2009-2010. The application of newer insecticides was done by drenching and the granules were applied along with dry soil. Soil drenching of imidacloprid 40 per cent + fipronil 40 per cent - 80 WG @ 300 g ha-1 was found to be most effective treatment for control of white grub followed by clothianidin 50 WDG @ 250 g ha-1, flubendiamide 480 SC @ 400 ml ha-1 and rynaxypyr 0.4 per cent G @ 125 g -1.Keywords

The pathogenicity of entomopathogenic fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch.) Sorokin, Beauveria brongniartii (Sacc.) and Beauveria bassiana (Balsana) Vuillrmin, was done against white grub, Leucopholis lepidophora (Blanchard) infesting sugarcane under pot culture experiment. In this investigation the virulence of different entomopathogenic fungi were determined by FYM enriched techniques against third instar grubs of Leucopholis lepidophora (Blanch.).An overall concentration range of 2x104-2x108 conidia ml-1 of entomopathogenic fungi were used but among these, 2x108 conidia ml-1 concentration was the most promising for highest grub mortality in each entomopathogenic fungi. M. anisopliae was found to be most effective fungus as compared to other fungi. It was observed that 34.49-62.07 per cent grub mortality occurred on 45 DAT in M. anisopliae at different conidial concentrations. B. brongniartii recorded 31.03 to 58.62 per cent grub mortality while, B. bassiana caused 27.59 to 55.18 per cent grub mortality at different conidial concentration. The results showed that M. anisopliae was found to be more pathogenic than B. brongniartii and B. bassiana. Keywords

The bioefficacy of different bioagents viz., Paecilomyces lilacinus (2x106 cfu/g), Pseudomonas fluorescens (1x109 cfu/g), Trichoderma viride (2x106 cfu/g), Phule Trichoderma plus (2x106 cfu/g) and Pochonia chlamydosporium (2x106 cfu/g) against second stage juveniles of ischolar_main-knot nematode infesting bottle gourd crop was studied under laboratory conditions. In this bioassay Paecilomyces lilacinus fungus caused higher rate of juvenile mortality at 1.00 per cent concentration was found to be promising in laboratory bioassay studies and recorded 80.00 per cent mortality of second stage juveniles of ischolar_main-knot nematode. This was followed by 76.67 per cent mortality of second stage juveniles of ischolar_main-knot nematode by Pseudomonas fluorescens at 1.00 per cent concentration after 72 hrs treatment of respective bioagents. The fungi Phule Trichoderma plus, Trichoderma viride recorded 70.00, 66.67 per cent juvenile mortality, while as in case of fungi Pochonia chlamydosporium 53.33 per cent juvenile mortality was observed after 72 hrs treatment of respective bioagents at 1.00 per cent concentrations. Keywords
